Laminate holds leading positions among facing materials for the floor. The durability and strength of the laminated coating has long been tested in practice, a pleasant combination of price and quality, as well as a huge selection of colors and textures – undoubted advantages of the material.
But nothing is forever, and even on such a universal coating, scratches are formed.
How to get rid of scratches on the laminate:
The problem of how to remove scratches on a laminate can easily be solved on your own. There are several ways to eliminate an annoying defect, which of them to choose depends on the depth of the scratch. But before repairing the coating, you should thoroughly rinse the scratch from pollution and dry.
The most simply remedy for small flaws is wax pencil. Sold in the finished form, just choose the desired color. It is carefully carried out with a pencil on scratches, leave for 10-15 minutes, then wipe the surface with a soft felt fabric.
To repair deeper dents, a special corrector is used, it externally resembles a putty that is painted on the letters on paper, but with a special composition. The scratch is covered using a brush, if one layer is not enough, after 20 minutes you need to repeat the procedure. Such a corrector freezes for about an hour, then you can walk on a laminate.
To eliminate serious damage, mastic is used, which is most often sold in the form of powder and special components. The product is divorced in strict accordance with the instructions. The place around the scratch should be sealed with painting tape. After preparing the mixture, it is applied with a spatula on a scratch, after 40-60 minutes, when the mastic freezes, it is recommended to polish the repair site.
Repair sets are a reliable way to close up scratches from the most insignificant to very deep. As a rule, they include a special pasta, hardener to it, a spatula and a wax pencil for finish processing. The paste is mixed with hardener and applied to the scratch, after the pasta hardens, the surface is adjusted with a wax pencil.
When carrying out repair work, care should be observed, try not to smear the surface around the scratch. All funds are very durable and after solidification they will have to be scraped, which will inevitably lead to new defects.
5. If the scratch does not manage to cover it, then the scratch is removed along with the laminate board. This will need:
Remove the plinth;
disassemble the laminate to the damaged element;
replace the board and collect the coating.
If all these methods are not suitable for a scratch, then use the most effective method – take the scratch out of sight, laying the carpet on this place.
