Interior arches – a business card at home

19.07.2022

Arca (translated from Latin, this word means “bend”) is the oldest architectural technique. For the first time, people spied it on Mother Nature: these are the same entrances to grottoes or caves, which almost always have the shape of an incorrect arch. The arches have always been so popular that for many centuries were decorated with castles, temples, palaces, wealthy residents and other public places as a decor.

Residents of Ancient Rome actively used this technology, just look at the famous Colosseum. At the same time, there were no arches in Greece at all. The Romanians also had arches, but they were too weighting and massive. But in the Gothic style, on the contrary, the arches focused on lightness and were openwork and pointed. Such arches are called “arrows” because of their shape.

After the Art Nouveau style comes into fashion, the interior arches became closer to the shape of the ellipse. And when the technology of monolithic reinforced concrete began to be used much later in construction, the arches became more functional: they turned into supporting structures.

Now the interior arch is more and more used in architecture or construction, but not so much in order to strengthen as to achieve a beautiful unique design. They are decorated more and more, and the form varies differently in various interiors. Designers and designers have all the opportunities for experiments, giving interior arches new outlines and functions. Now with confidence we can say that the arch is one of the most relevant and beautiful solutions for the interior.

The arch, unlike the doors, does not divide the room into a room different in terms of purpose, but rather collects them into one. This is the value of interior arches as architectural elements for modern apartments, which are rarely different in large areas.

The arch helps to combine the space between the rooms, at the same time dividing it into the zones different in its functions. For example, the interior arch will help connect the passage from the dining room to the corridor or to the living room from the hallway. In general, any arch guarantees a passage from one zone to another without obstacles, which is very convenient. The volume of the room is perceived integral, because the arch is visible through the arch of most of the neighboring room or room. In addition, the use of the interior arch will visually increase the volume. The rooms seem to go smoothly from one to another. This also helps to save a certain share of the area for more functional use in the future.

The premises connected using interior arches create, as it were, a feeling of antiquity. After all, most often the arch in the first role is perceived as an element of decor, and not a design for strengthening. The interior arch can be designed in any style to your taste so that it harmonizes with the rest of the interior and make the room more spacious and comfortable.
