Light, durable and durable – such qualities turn corrugated board into one of the best roofing materials. It is chosen not only to cover the roofs of private houses, but also in the case of the construction of large hangars, shopping centers, warehouses and parking lots – objects that differ in a very large area of the pitched roofs. Roofing corrugated board is extremely simple in installation, so they are used in the construction of rapidly vested buildings. Finally, it is very aesthetic and can have any color from the RAL palette.
About the height of the profile and the thickness of the sheet
Sheet steel, which goes to the manufacture of such material, is subjected to special mechanical processing, which allows to obtain a certain profile. Its main purpose is to strengthen the deformation strength (stiffness) of the sheet. The greater the height of the “crest”, the more durable the corrugated board becomes. The thickness of sheet steel also plays a role, therefore, to use metal profile as a coating of roofs, builders use a material with a thickness of at least 0.5 mm and a profile height of 20 mm. Note that the price is set for corrugated board depending on the size of these two indicators that make the material more or less durable.
Materials of manufacture
The basis of any corrugated board is sheet steel covered with a protective layer. To create the latter, different alloy metals and alloys are used:
zinc,
aluminum,
Alumocynka,
aluminum,
Electrolytic zinc.
Each of these options differs in terms of resistance to corrosion, but in its modern form, a metal profile for the roof will certainly receive additional layers of protection – polymer, created on the basis of synthetic resins or plastics. In addition, these substances can be enriched with all kinds of additives, additives, pigments and dyes that significantly increase the protective properties of the material and give it more attractiveness.
It is possible to buy corrugated board, which would have a maximum resistance to external influences, when studying the assortment of materials with a plasticizole layer of polyvinyl chloride or with a special paintwork, which can withstand even oils and gasoline. In the latter case, the metal profile will perfectly cope with high temperatures, so it is most often bought by developers working in a hot climate.
The decision to buy corrugated board for the roof even at the stage of erecting an object will become profitable, since relatively light material will not require the creation of a massive rafter system. Significant savings can be achieved in the case of building a private house with an attic, and during the construction of a large hangar, where the distance between the beams of the rafter system can reach three meters. To get a sufficiently rigid coating in such cases, it is enough to purchase corrugated board with a profile height of at least 6 cm.
